5/7 – Conversations with… Craig Taylor (on NEW YORKERS: A City and Its People in Our Time)

Craig Taylor is an oral historian and author of the best-selling Londoners, as well as contributor to the New York Times, the Guardian, the Globe & Mail, and McSweeney’s. Most recently, he has written the just-published NEW YORKERS: A City and Its People in Our Time [W. W. Norton & Company].

Taylor has been described by David Rakoff as “a peerless journalist and a beautiful craftsman,” while Michael Faber states that he “fuses the mundane truth of conversation with the higher truth of art.”  Olivia Laing writes of NEW YORKERS that it is as “gorgeous, cacophonous and shocking as New York itself. Like those great oral historians Studs Terkel and Ronald Blythe, Craig Taylor has the gift of drawing out the most idiosyncratic confidences, creating a magical, uproarious, and sometimes terrifying portrait of life in the ultimate city.”

Time: May 7, 2021 04:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
